We live by our motives and are constantly told what to do, what to believe, where to go – in other words- we have been conditioned to act in a certain way. While it’s sad enough to realize that we are taught what to be , now we also try to figure out which path to choose in terms of our career choices. Doesn’t it sound like a long boring story? Well, I’m sorry dear reader but if you say “No!”, then you probably are a high school student or a member of a rich family (not trying to insult rich people!) , it’s not just that! there is more! You’ll likely to feel failed as your hard work will never be appreciated financially. That’s where career tips and advices and all other lies step in!
Ever since I graduated, I have been dealing with this incredibly rich world of ridiculously useless articles written about career advices. I say dealing with because I am trying to underline one point. We must admit, living the age of globalization, it is not easy to find a proper job and there are times we seek a piece of support to continue. Whether on the bus or on the tube what we all do in the morning is pretty much the same, reading columns and articles, thinking about our lives, wondering if the future will be bright. As the ones who have no luck as to “finding the dream job of our lives”, what else can we do other than reading the career tips given by those who probably have never had to face similar problems like we do. I am not saying I don’t agree with them on the contrary I absolutely support their advices but it is kind of shocking to read such things especially for someone who is experiencing every single handicap of business world.
Stay positive, be patient if you are not happy with your job , be a member of high class recruitment agencies blah blah…As if we haven’t tried any of them right?! At some point you learn not to care which is slightly dangerous. Don’t worry as long as you don’t start saying these to yourself, ” I am invisible!”, ” I will die in this room alone and broke!”, ” I’ll never get to find my dream job?” …etc! How do I know so well? Well, maybe I am one of you! I’ve worked in different fields ( from being an expo consultant to content editing ) long enough to understand that I’ve been on the wrong path. Then what happened? Well, I quit and found the job of my life and I am so freaking happy! Sorry, I was just trying be sarcastic for a moment . Recently, all I’ve been doing was writing, writing for myself and for others who may enjoy reading my words and share my humor. I know I made fun of “staying positive” but it would be such a shame to ignore the power of having a positive attitude towards yourself.
Instead of becoming someone else other than being myself, I rather be broke and do what I fully enjoy doing. If it feels like you’re on the right truck it’s fine, it will take time for sure ( God knows how long ) to meet your needs in terms of job opportunities but isn’t it the greatest feeling? Moving away from the world that you’ve been working for like a senseless ghost…As spiritual as it sounds, I think it is the only way to succeed. I’d really love to be paid high salaries however, I am smart enough to realize I can not win it all. In fact, no one can have it all. It is a rare chance. I choose to be happy rather than sad and hopeless, I choose to earn less, smile more , I choose to work feeling motivated instead of despising my job. Indescribable strive for success generates nothing but self-despair. The moment you change your understanding of success, you embrace the posibility of being a happy person. They never had and never will tell you that before you rise you need to taste the bitterness of sinking. In fail, take your time have a laugh at yourself and be proud. Fail enough to find your way. Fail enough to understand success is not measured by the amount of banknotes you have. Veracity of your happiness, numbers of your smiles and sincerity of your laughs are your success. Become yourself.
