With summer (almost) ending , we can focus on upcoming changes and stereotyped routines. I normally don’t say this but getting organized after summer, aka spending happiest days recklessly drinking wine beside sea, has never been easier for me. Well actually, I would like to share a little more about summer , I mean my summer.
If I had never been introduced with writing in the first place which had always been the most liberating and irresistible aspect of my life, I could have been either a free spirited cowboy or a traveller who knows?! I could travel the world alone and end my days getting drunk by the beauty of different cultures and watching the sunset. That would cost me a lot of money though. Writing, on the other hand, makes the whole traveling prophecy possible and believe me it doesn’t cost that much except for it requires strong fingers. Over the course of my writing life, I have been to many amazing places and the place which impressed my most has been my mind. At its modest, for years I have already been traveling! (through words). In theory, I am drunk. Every single time I write down these very words and share them with others, I get drunk. In some way, traveling does not differ from writing that much. As it also promises a visual feast for both the eyes and the stomach, drinking wine is an unnamed tradition during traveling especially in summer and quite similar to writing.
On the eve of summer, I promised myself that summer would be all about nice things. To that end, I needed to find loyal victims who were going to accompany me and have wonderful time with me. Classic daily summer activities such as swimming, sleeping by the pool, watching the sunset/sunrise, eating tons of yummy fruits ( Well, I don’t really feel comfortable about mentioning the fries and the delicious desserts as they are unhealthy! See? This is why I am never learning how to cook), drinking wine with the loved ones could ecstasized anybody. On one of the days I was poisoned by the tranquility of my summer activities, a simple yet a funny joke made me realize what really matters in life.
One of the victims: What time is it ?
Me: I guess it’s around 9 o’clock.
And here goes my victim with humor: Nope! It’s wine o’clock.
As long as you don’t have the right people by your side- people that you get to spend time enjoying the most ordinary moments, there is no point in getting drunk. Over the past years, many articles have been written about how drinking wine boosts health as well as it increases the hormones of happiness which is great. With respect to this, I would like to highlight one thing. With the right people and the right kind of pizza along with a decent wine, one can conquer the world.
“One should always be drunk. That’s all that matters…But with what? With wine, with poetry, or with virtue, as you chose. But get drunk.”
Shall we celebrate all wonderful things about summer which we welcomed packing our suitcases by raising a toast ?
